TGGT - 250°C

TGGT Wire is a high-temperature electrical wire built with a unique Teflon (PTFE) / Glass / Glass / Teflon (PTFE) insulation structure, designed for extreme heat applications. It features stranded nickel-plated copper conductors, an inner PTFE layer for high-temperature and chemical resistance, followed by multiple fiberglass yarn layers for thermal insulation and mechanical strength, and an outer treated fiberglass braid for abrasion protection. Rated for 600 volts and a continuous temperature of 250°C (482°F), TGGT wire is highly resistant to heat, abrasion, chemicals, and moisture. It is widely used for internal wiring in industrial and household ovens, furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature processing equipment. Read our TGGT High Temp Wire Buyers Guide.

Industrial TGGT High-Temp Wire Technical Overview

TGGT wire is the "workhorse" of the high-heat electrical industry, offering a perfect balance of flexibility, moisture resistance, and extreme thermal stability. Rated for 250°C (482°F), it is specifically designed to outperform standard silicone wires in environments where chemicals, steam, or mechanical abrasion are present.  This high-temp wire carries a UL listing of UL 5256 & UL 5251.

Key Features
  • Triple-Layer Thermal Barrier: The unique "Teflon-Glass-Glass-Teflon" construction provides multiple layers of defense against heat soak and electrical leakage.
  • Superior Chemical & Moisture Resistance: The internal PTFE (Teflon) tape wrap acts as a longitudinal moisture barrier, protecting the conductors from oils, acids, and humidity.
  • Flexible Nickel-Plated Copper: Features stranded nickel-plated copper conductors that remain highly conductive and resist becoming brittle at a constant 250°C.
  • High-Strength Fiberglass Jacket: The outer treated fiberglass braid is engineered to resist fraying during difficult pulls through industrial conduits.
  • 600V Power Rating: Suitable for both low-voltage control signals and high-voltage power leads in heavy machinery.
Common Applications
  • Commercial Kitchen Equipment: The standard choice for internal wiring in commercial fryers, ovens, and steam tables.
  • Plastic Extrusion & Injection Molding: Provides reliable power to heating bands and barrels in plastic manufacturing.
  • Industrial Drying & Curing: Used in specialized paint booths and curing ovens that require constant high-heat operation.
  • Heater Lead Wire: The preferred lead wire for cartridge heaters, strip heaters, and band heaters.
  • Aerospace & Heat Treating: Deployed in environments requiring lightweight yet ultra-durable high-heat cabling.
Installation Note
  • TGGT is optimized for environments up to 250°C. For extreme-heat applications exceeding this limit, such as blast furnaces or ceramic kilns, you must upgrade to Type MG (Mica Glass) wire, which is rated for 450°C. If your application requires high flexibility at lower temperatures (up to 200°C), SRML is a cost-effective alternative.
